The Awami League’s dialogue with the President is on 16 January

The ruling Awami League will hold a dialogue with the President on January 18 on the formation of the Election Commission. This information has been given from the press wing of Bangabhaban on Sunday (January 09).

According to the Press Wing, the President will discuss the formation of the EC with the Awami League at four in the afternoon. Abdul Hamid.

It may be mentioned that President Abdul Hamid has invited 32 parties since the beginning of the dialogue on December 20.

Like the last two times, the President started the dialogue on December 20 with the initiative to appoint an election commissioner through a search committee.

Although the BNP has gone for dialogue twice before, this time it has decided not to respond to the President’s initiative. Apart from this, a few more parties were invited but did not take part in the dialogue. One or two parties have also announced in advance that they will not enter into dialogue.

As no law has been enacted for the appointment of the constitutional body Election Commission, the President is appointing by forming a search committee as an alternative.

The term of the current Election Commission headed by KM Nurul Huda is coming to an end on February 14. In that, the president will have to form a new commission. The next general election will be held under the new EC.
